Centre for SME Growth and Development Finance
(CESMED),
is an international advisory, development, training and research
institution at Mumbai, India.
CESMED with its twin
objectives, aims at promoting competitive and dynamic micro,
small and medium enterprises (SME) sector and complementing the
role of banking and financial system through suitable
capacity building programmes.
CESMED
activities are mainly directed by its founder Chairman Dr. Sailendra Narain, a development banker with over three decades
of professional career in banking and finance. An Advisory Board
consisting of eminent experts form India and abroad provide
overall guidance.
CESMED
maintains a panel of international experts and their services
are commissioned for projects/programmes on
need-based basis.
CESMED and its experts are increasingly being called upon by
various governments (especially Asian and African countries);
major organizations of the United Nations such as UNIDO, UNDP,
UNCTAD, UN-ESCAP; international development agencies, such as
Gtz-Germany, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO),
Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC), World
Economic Forum (WEF); renowned universities (Harvard, University
of California); specialized financial institutions, B-Schools
and technical institutions (like IIMs and IITs in India), for
collaborative programmes mainly relating to promotion of SME
sector in developing economies and capacity building of
development financial institutions.
